MADRID (MarketWatch) -- Dell Inc. is close to announcing an agreement to
sell itself to a consortium led by founder and Chief Executive Michael Dell
and private equity gruop Silver Lake Partners, Reuters reported on Friday.
Citing two people familiar with the matter, the report said the deal could
be announced as soon as Monday. Michael Dell is likely to take on majority
ownership of the company, with Silver Lake and Microsoft Corp. MSFT -1.44%
becoming minority investors, Reuters said, citing a third person familiar
with the deal. The deal is set to be finalized this weekend, though last-
minute details could mean a delay. Those people said up to $15 billion has
been secured in debt financing from Barclays, Bank of America Merrill Lynch,
Credit Suisse and RBC Capital. Reuters said representatives for Dell,
Microsoft and Barclays declined to comment. | g*q
