No, the gov can find fund from other places to pay the interest for a few
more days. 10/17 is just an estimated deadline.
US showed its weakness in this process. I expect they have to raise interest
rates after this otherwise no one will buy gov debt. This will be a
disaster in a few months if nobody takes action.
