China halts transfers at Citi, other banks: report
LOS ANGELES (MarketWatch) -- Citigroup Inc.'s C-2.74% China branches, and
possibly other banks, have stopped all cash transfers for three days and all
currency conversions from yuan for nine days, Forbes reported Sunday via an
article by contributor Gordon Chang. Citi reportedly made the announcement
in a notice on its web portal for Chinese customers, saying the move was a
result of "system maintenance of People's Bank of China," a reason Forbes's
Chang described as "preposterous." MarketWatch couldn't immediately confirm
the report. Chang said the move was similar to action taken in June and
December of last year. "In June, for instance, the central bank used the
excuse of a 'system upgrade' to allow banks to shut down their ATMs and
online banking platforms. As a result, they conserved cash and thereby
avoided a nationwide meltdown," Chang wrote. |

发帖数: 1228 | 2 其他新兴国家出问题是因为其货币计价的债券无法偿还，政府税收无法保证，所以本币
贬值来还债，本质就是default。
但是人民币国债，中央政府发行的比较少，目前还有税收保证，大量美元债券back up
，出问题可能较小。唯一的可能是地方债出问题，但是目前没有迹象。
其他的什么都可以忽略。

as long as there are enough "real goods" in the market, there won't be a big
problem. By "real goods", I mean rice, pork, soybeans, cotton, oil.

What I am saying is that, yes, there are problems in China, but taken
together, it's far from a doomsday crisis.

而且远比美国上次次贷严重。而且中国的所有问题都是纠缠在一起，牵一发动全身，就
好象那些企业的互保，在一般性的危机面前，会更能挺，但是更容易出现无解的全面危
机。

are going to own everything - which is not true. I think they are only good
at covering everything rather than solving the problems. Otherwise, there
should not be problems at all.
Depending on how they make decisions, and the fate of all their brothers, I
would rather bet on a sudden death sooner or later. |
