Despite concerns over insufficient trial data, an FDA panel votes today to
recommend approval of Staar Surgical's Visian Toric breakthrough implantable
collamer lens for treating myopic astigmatism.
FDA panel recommends XXX approval of first-in-kind eye implant
An FDA panel today voted today to recommend approval for Staar Surgical's (
NSDQ:STAA) novel Visian Toric implantable collamer lens for treatment of
myopic astigmatism in adults aged 21-45.
If FDA follows its panel's recommendation and grants marketing approval for
Visian Toric, California ophthalmic devices maker Staar Surgical will hold
the only lens approved in the U.S. for placement in the posterior chamber (
ciliary sulcus) of the phakic eye.
Panelists voted 5 in favor that there is a reasonable assurance of safety,
with 1 no and 3 abstentions. They voted 7 in favor of effectiveness, with 1
no and 1 abstention. On Visian Toric's benefits outweighing risks, 6
panelists voted yes and 3 abstained. |

大家都知道lasik，就是把角膜切薄，治疗近视，散光等。但是lasik 有可能带来一些
副反应，比如干眼症，等等。而且角膜切薄，长不回来。很多人有心理恐惧。
还有一种方法，就是在眼内插入corrective lens，这就是staar 的主要技术。它们公
司研发了一种材料，是完全bio－compatibile的，化学副作用很小。它们就是用这种材
料做lens，植入眼内。

发帖数: 2844 | 6 插入是可逆手术，日后可以重新取出来。lasik 是一旦切了，再也不能改。万一切坏就
死菜了。
