Sievert will take over as CEO on May 1, succeeding John Legere who announced
late last year that he would leave T-Mobile this April.
A decision on the $26.5 billion merger could come next month, as closing
arguments are slated for Jan. 15 on an antitrust lawsuit brought by 14
attorneys general.
The Justice Department and Federal Communications Commission already
approved the deal. In line with the Justice Department’s conditions, Sprint
consolidated its prepaid brands Tuesday to eventually divest.
