The first confirmed infection in the USA was January 21. He had symptoms
dating back to January 14. The ban was late January and was not a full
travel ban. China announced publicly in December they had the virus.

at this time the virus was begining to spread widely, with little to no
testing available.
February 26: Trump claims COVID-19 "is a flu". - no clinical evidence of
this.
February 26: Trump predicts the number of US cases is "going very
substantially down ... close to zero”. - at this time, cases of the virus
are beginning to double.
February 26: Trump claims the flu death rate is "much higher" than Dr.
Sanjay Gupta said. - today, we know the mortality rate of COVID-19 is
approaching 6%, the seasonal flu is below 1%.

world stated the global mortality rate for coronavirus at 3.4%.
Trump says :”I think the 3.4 % is really a false number, this is just my “
Hunch”! - there is no clinical evidence of his claim.
March 6: Trump says “I hear the numbers getting much better in Italy” -
under strict quarantine, the number of cases continues to rise.
March 6: Trump claims anybody can get tested if they ask. However, There
were an insufficient number of tests available, as Pence said the day prior,
and Americans could not get tested simply because they wanted to get tested.
"You may not get a test unless a doctor or public health official prescribes
a test."
March 6: Trump says that "maybe" the coronavirus improved US jobs numbers. -
not sure how this helps with the COVID-19 outbreak.
March 11: Trump address to the nation states Insurance companies will pay
for patients tested for and treated for the COVID-19 virus. The next day
insurance companies scrambled to correct his verbiage saying they will only
cover co-pays.
March 11: Trump address to nation includes ban to travel from most of Europe
, but does NOT include Britain and Scotland, which have both been dealing
with thier own outbreaks of the COVID-19 virus.
March 13: Trump declares the coronavirus a national emergency.
March 18: Trump says he took it serious from the beginning and thought it
was a pandemic
President Donald Trump ramps up his 2020 reelection bid, it is clear that he
has tolerated if not fostered a swamp of his own in Washington, and now the
swamp is overflowing!
