The earning of money market of a bank is considered as dividend or interest?
I think interest is treated as regular income,
but dividends can be treated as capital gain, which may have lower tax rate.

thakns.
first, what I have is the Money market fund of a bank. Basically the bank
has three things: checking, saving (regular, and CDs), and money market fund
. Usually money market fund has a higher rate. The earning from this money
market fund, the bank call it a dividend. But when the bank report the
earning, it uses the similar form as that of interest.

is ordinary income and dividend income taxed at 15% (if your income is less
than $200000?). There are different lines on 1040 to report these income. (
don't report dividend on capital gain).
If you got 1099-INT, my guess is your bank invested the money in CD's, but I
could be wrong. Ask your bank.

only qualified dividends get 15%, and ordinary dividends are counted as
regular income? The forms from the bank will specify which are interests,
which are ordinary dividends, which are qualified dividends?
