I********e 发帖数: 131 | 1 头一次用itemized deduction.问个关于property tax怎么减的问题,情况略微复杂。
In 2009, owned property A as primary residence and the property tax was $X.
The property tax was paid in Jan 2010.
Bought and moved to property B at beginning of 2010 (converted A to rental
property). In Dec 2010, paid property tax $Y for property B.
Is X and Y both deductible in my 2010 tax return? Both were property tax
paid in 2010 for properties used a primary residence. | J*****i 发帖数: 2622 | 2 no property tax deduction in 2009 because you paid nothing.

No.
in 2010, to make it simple, and ignore the a few days you lived in property
A:
tax paid on A goes to Sch E Pg. 1. tax paid on rental property
tax paid on B goes to Sch A. real estate tax paid.
If you are not sure about Sch E. seek help from a CPA. (Hint, land is not
depreciable. and life. etc.) | I********e 发帖数: 131 | 3 Thanks much for the reply.
I guess I didn't make it clear enough in the original post. Here's what I
paid in 2010:
For property A
$X in Jan, 2009 property tax, the property was primary residence in 2009.
$Z in DEC, 2010 property tax, the property was used as rental in 2010.
For property B
$Y in Dec, 2010 property tax, the property was primary residence in 2010.
I know $Z goes to schedule E. The question: is $X deductible in 2010 tax
return?
residence.
property
