新华网天津频道９月９日电 近日，一封群众来信反映，天津大学８７岁高龄的退
休老教授杨恩泽一生简朴，身患癌症，却拿出所有积蓄捐资３０余万元，在广东省饶平
县所城镇中心小学建起了一座科学楼。天津市委宣传部领导批示，要深入了解杨恩泽同
志的事迹，结合正在进行的学习实践社会主义荣辱观活动进行宣传。
是怎样的动力使得如此高龄的老教授倾其一生积蓄捐资助教？在捐资助学的背后，
还有怎样鲜为人知的故事？带着这些问题，我们来到天津大学采访。通过周围人和他本
人的讲述，我们走进了杨老师丰富而崇高的精神世界。
初次见到杨老师是在他的实验室。面前的杨老师清癯硬朗，精神矍铄，身着上世纪
七八十年代流行的的确良短袖衬衣和已经有些褪色的灰色西式短裤，异常简朴。学生们
讲，虽然是暑假，杨先生每天仍准时到实验室，几十年来，这已成为先生的一种习惯。
而杨老师自己说，他喜欢和学生们在一起，工作是他最大的人生乐趣。

I'm really sorry to hear that Prof. Yang got cancer. I used to work
next door to his lab on 5'th floor in Beiyang Science Building,, that was 7
years ago. He was 80 and still playing tennis everyday. He is so nice that
he gave me many help mentally and also kept emailing me every year after I
came to the US.
Prof. Yang's group has very nice research on fiber optics for internet
data transfer. I introduced one of my friends in Physics Dept. to be his
graduate student around 2000.
