The report mentions (a) Asus Eee PC; (b) Acer; and (c) Clevo (which was
known to me).
(2) Two days ago (Mar. 21), New York Times published a report by Cindy Sui:
Taiwan Wants to Focus on Building Its Own High-Tech Brands.
I assume Western reporters wrote this on the side while covering the
presidential election in Taiwan. Elections are good for economy--as well as | t******y

sticking to status quo will leave Taiwan holding no rice in the bowl.)
The problem is Americans--and Europeans by extension--seem to have a knack
for marketing. Taiwanese excel in electronics and engineering but are weak
in * * *. However, Japanese car makers seem to be succeeding in US,
culminating with Toyota elbowing away General Motors as the largest car
maker of the world.

(1) that 2007 Q4 net profit increased 89% compared with a year ago, to $80
million;
(2) that the entire 2007 saw net profit increased 26% (compared with 2006)
to $395 million, with revenue up 25%.
Apparently, a portion of net profit needs to pay tax. In other words, net
profit is BEFORE tax.
