For almost two decades, Taiwanese have invested a lot in China. It is their
money and they should be able to do whatever they want. Especially when
there is no law in Taiwan preventing them from doing so. (What Taiwan has
had is fiats, imposed by executive branch that is subject to whims of
officials.) I know when investment environment changes, businesses will
adapt or move. For the present, China may no longer be | c**i

manufacturing to Taiwanese companies. Lenovo vaguely denied it.
But DisplaySearch, a US market research company has reported Lenovo as a
customer of Taiwanese companies. See Jack Schofield, Did Quanta or Compal

computer assembly and into marketing as well as R & D--may be deemed a
briliant move. So far, it has been a sucess. Since the beginning of this
year, in report after report DisplaySearch has showed Lenovo increases
notebook sale the most (about the same as Apple), although Lenovo remains No
. 4 in world market share--after HP, Dell and Acer (the last of which has
lagged behind in sale increase).
