Although I studied economy on the side, I could not figure out why inflation
in China, causing reminbi to lose value, will affect mostly dollar-
denominated foreign reserve of China.
Then I figured it all out.
You see, if one buys a stock and the stock sinks, as long as he does ot sell
the stock, the loss is on paper only. The same applies to foreign reserve.
As long as a nation keeps the dollars in the foreign reserve, that nation
will suffer loss from inflation in UNITED |
