第23届夏季奥林匹克运动会

第二十三届奥林匹克运动会于1984年7月28日～8月12日，在美国
洛杉矶市举行。
洛杉矶曾于1932年主办过第十届奥林匹克运动会，本届奥运会它
是惟一申请主办的城市，所以，1978年国际奥委会雅典会议决定：由
洛杉矾承办第二十三届奥运会，使洛杉矶成为继巴黎、伦敦之后，第
三个两获夏季奥运会主办权的城市。本届奥运会正值洛杉矶烟雾季节
中期，有些项目必须安排在早上或傍晚举行，使比赛受到了一些影响
。
雅典会议后，洛杉矶开始了全面的筹备工作，彼得。尤伯罗思这
位45岁的金融界人士担任了筹委会主席。在既无政府补贴又不能增加
纳税人负担，加之美国法律还禁止发行彩票，一切资金都得自行筹措
的情况下，尤伯罗思表现了他在财政管理上的杰出才华，白手起家
，广开财源，采取了如下主要措施：与企业集团订立集资协议；出售
电视广播权和比赛门票；压缩各项开支，充分利用现有设施，尽量不
修建体育场馆；不新盖奥林匹克村，租借加州两座大学宿舍供运动员
、官员住宿；招募志愿人员为大会义务工作等。尤伯罗思利用自己的
聪明才智，
