Isner Tops Mahut In Newport; Nishikori Tested

Top seed and defending champion John Isner held Nicolas Mahut's number for a
third straight meeting, defeating the Frenchman and 2007 Newport finalist 6
-2, 7-6(2) in a second-round match between the Wimbledon marathon men
Wednesday at the Campbell’s Hall Of Fame Tennis Championships.
Isner closed out the victory in one hour and 18 minutes - far short of their
match two years ago at Wimbledon, won by the American in a historic 70-68
fifth set after 11 hours and five minutes. Isner also won their rematch last
year in the Wimbledon first round in straight sets.
"Next year's Wimbledon, we'll probably see each other," he said with a laugh
