There might be a new goal in Roger Federer"s amazing career. Winning the
seventh title in Basel, the Swiss conquered his 88th career-title. Since he"
s perfect physically and mentally, it"s the time to think about equalizing
Jimmy Connors, who is the leader in this list. The American won 109 titles
between 1972 and 1989 and maths isn"t an opinion: there are 21 titles left
and it"s not excluded that Federer, having a careful and wise schedule, can
"catch" him. At the moment he"s third: it"s almost granted that he will pass
Ivan Lendl (who is second with 94 titles), but catching up Connors depends
on some factors. The first, the most important, is for how many years he
will play. Last week, Federer said: "Honestly I don"t think to reach Connors
, but I would like to play for as long as possible, maybe to open new Basel
stadium in 2018" declared the World No. 3, who made his debut in his
hometown tournament in 1998 losing at the first round to Andre Agassi 6/3 6/

THAT HORRIBLE 2013
If he plays for other three years, we can try to imagine the "attack plan"
to Connors. It will not be easy to equal him: he should win seven titles per
year. Roger hasn"t won seven tournaments in one season since 2007. He did
it for five times in a row since 2003 to 2007, then in 2013 he only won one
title in Halle. That year he suffered from a back injury, he tried to change
racquet meanwhile he had lost matches even more. Last year he won five
tournaments, this year six. Envisioning similar results till 2018 (five-six
tournaments per year) he could win from 15 to 18 titles, being very near to
