patience to strengthen his physical and mental condition on his return to
the ATP circuit.
Former world number one tennis player Novak Djokovic said Tuesday in his
Facebook page that he works with strength and patience to strengthen his
physical and mental condition before returning to the ATP circuit early next
year.
"I work hard to strengthen my muscles, both physically and mentally, and I'm
enjoying the process," said the Serbian player adding photos in which he is
appreciated in full physical effort.
Djokovic ended his season last July with an injury to his right elbow over
an over-game that required prolonged rest.
In an interview with the Serbian newspaper Novosti, the current world number
seven had declared on Monday that he missed the racket.
"I'm looking forward to playing again ... But I do not think that in a month
I could recover everything I lost, I'm going step by step, I'm confident
that I'll be at full throttle by the middle of next year, although I would
not complain if I went into form something earlier, "he said.
He also said he has the motivation to prove himself that he can "even more
and better."
Djokovic said the examples of Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal "are a sign
that you can return to the top after a break and a season when the game did
not have the best level."
"Federer and Nadal are unique in many ways, they are the best players in the
history of this sport, people who have had an influence to make me who I am
," said Djokovic.
He recalled that he is "the only player on the cusp that has never paused".
"From this perspective I think I should have done so immediately after
Roland Garros," Djokovic said in reference to the June 7 defeat at the Paris
quarter-final against Austrian Dominic Thiem. |
