The closest places will be NASA and Galveston, even though they are not that
good. If you can drive you can drive to San antonio and Austin for a two-day
trip.
For the places to eat chinese food, you can ask your gf. If you want to try
something new, you should try texas steak. There is one very good, named
Houston on kirby, but it is expensive. And you can try BBQ and mexican food,
