consulor and state you like to invite your parents and will provide
all necessary financial support (room and board, transportation).
Put down a defined length of time (3 months, for example). Mention
they will have a tour in the US (reading: spend some money in the US).
Let your parents bring the letter to the consulor with all other
necessary documents.

1.)If you are a student approaching graduation, to invite parents over for the
ceremony is always the best reason to give. Or similarly, something
significantly important, of course, you will have to convince the visa
officer.
2.)Don't think that matters too much.
3.)I wrote my letter as a normal one by hand. It was just addressed to my
parents and invite them for my graduation. Of course, only for purpose getting
the visa, so it was very short(about 4 lines). In my case, the realer it
