LEAGUE CITY — A search for three burglary suspects resulted in police
detaining two men and a brief lockdown of a school, authorities said.
Police were still searching for one suspect, but no injuries were reported.
League City police received calls from the Victory Lakes subdivision near
Interstate 45 and FM 646 about 9 a.m. reporting a gun was possibly among the
items stolen in home burglaries, police Lt. Bruce Whitten said.
One witness reported seeing a car with two or three men inside. The suspects
ran from an officer on the scene, prompting the brief lockdown of Victory
Lakes Intermediate School as police set up a perimeter around the
subdivision.
Police had assistance from the Galveston County Auto Crimes Task Force, the
constable’s and sheriff’s office, leading to the apprehension of two men
suspected in the burglaries, Whitten said. The men had not been charged as
of late this morning.
“We wound up catching two of them in a backyard and went house-to-house
making sure no one had hidden inside a house,” Whitten said.
Police learned a third man, described as black, thin and in his 20s, was
running through a nearby golf course and into an apartment complex, but he
escaped, Whitten said. |
