The coast guard in Belize off the South American coast will not allow cruise
ship passengers to come ashore because of fears of Ebola.
It turns out one passenger on the Carnival Magic works at Texas Health
Presbyterian Hospital and handled lab specimens from Thomas Eric Duncan.
State Department spokeswoman Jen Psaki said in a statement Friday that the
woman has shown no signs of the disease and has been asymptomatic for 19
days.
But she and her husband are now in quarantine on the ship and are being
monitored for signs of infection. The government is also working to return
them to the U.S. before the ship completes its cruise.
Psaki said that when the woman left the U.S. on the cruise ship health
officials were requiring only self-monitoring.
