ConocoPhillips Cuts 2015 Drilling Budget by 20%

ConocoPhillips expects its capital spending to decline 20% from a year ago
to $13.5 billion next year, as oil companies continue to scale back drilling
plans because of falling prices for crude.
The Houston-based oil giant said it plans to spend less on major projects
that are nearly complete as well as defer spending on emerging shale plays
in North America.
Chairman and Chief Executive Ryan Lance said in a news release Monday, "We
are setting our 2015 capital budget at a level that we believe is prudent
given the current environment."
The sharp decline in spending will likely further pressure companies that
provide oil-field services--such as Schlumberger NV, Halliburton Co. and
Baker Hughes Inc.--which tend to suffer when oil companies reduce spending.
Conoco expects production will increase about 3% at its continuing
operations, excluding those in Libya. Last month, the oil exploration and
production company had said that next year's budget would fall below the $16
billion spent this year, dropping plans for some new wells in places such
as Colorado's Niobrara Shale.
About $5 billion of the spending plan is allocated toward Conoco's
development drilling program, down from roughly $6.5 billion in 2014, with
spending in the lower 48 U.S. states to remain focused on the Eagle Ford and
Bakken Shale regions. The company said it expects to defer significant
spending for emerging North American unconventional plays, including the
Permian, Niobrara, Montney and Duvernay.
Conoco plans to provide further details about its 2015 capital spending and
production plans when it reports its fourth-quarter financial results Jan.

Oil giant BP is accelerating plans to cut hundreds of jobs within its back-
office departments - many of them based in the UK and US.
The company, which has been downsizing since the oil spill in the Gulf of
Mexico in 2010, said it had long planned the cuts, but is speeding up the
process due to falling oil prices.
Crude prices have fallen by almost 40% this year, reducing oil firms'
margins.
BP employs almost 84,000 people worldwide, and some 15,000 in the UK.
In the US, the firm employs 20,000 people, many of whom are based in Texas.
"The fall in oil prices has added to the importance of making the
organisation more efficient," a BP spokesman told the BBC, "and the right
size for the smaller portfolio we now have".
Earlier on Sunday, The Sunday Times newspaper quoted BP's finance director,
Brian Gilvary, as saying "headcounts are starting to come down across all
our activities".
He added that the cuts would apply to "essentially the layers above
operations".
In the UK, BP has offices in London, Milton Keynes, Subury on Thames and
Aberdeen, among other places.
In October, BP reported its third quarter replacement cost profits - which
strip out volatility in oil prices - were $2.4bn (￡1.5bn), down from $3.2bn
in the same period last year.
The company, which says it is a third smaller than it was in 2010, is also
still settling claims related to the Deepwater Horizon spill in the Gulf of
Mexico.
As of September, compensation costs had reached $20bn, BP said.

中，而Bellaire 更是贵的出奇。Meyerland 东边离Bellaire更近, 所以更贵。
