if the pros in this group agree with the assessment and if so, what changes

as a novice poker aficionado, i read literature on poker strategies and try
to apply them during games. my ability to read opponents' cards is so so,
and as such, i stick to a set of principles that have worked well for me.

hands, am I gonna wait for that to bet big? We need to play aggresively, we
need to gamble sometimes.
"1) on pre-flop, i fold just about every time unless i have strong starting
hands, or if my position is good and there is enough chips in the pot;"
This is good for beginners, as you play more and improve your skills, you
may loosen up your starting hands. Poker is not about playing what you have.
If your opponent has not

it's not bad at the beginning, since you won't lose much (when you lose big,
it's either tilt or bad beat), but you'd not be able to maximize your
winning... so over time, you'll still lose because:
1) you can't get action much;
2) ppl will figure out your play very easily, and you'll lose many small/
medium pots (which are most profits in this game over time);
3) like everyone else, you'll have your unlucky day;
4) you can't play oth

detecting tells? many thanks. | p*****s 发帖数: 33 | 7 Fryking has hit the nail on the head.
You are doing very well as a beginner. And as a beginner, you are doing the
right thing by not being a loser. Now is the time to expand, to play to
become a winner, and next area of expansion will be reading your opponents.
This game is not only about how strong you are, it is also about how strong
my opponent is. With this read, you will be able to fold/call/bet with
confidence. And don't get discouraged if you get read wrong once a while,

Honestly I'm not a big fan of online poker game.

most ppl nowadays, i played crazy in live games first (thought i was good
and "experienced")... until i hit the solid wall once and once again, i
began to realize i might have accumulated some good live experience, but i
paid a much higher tuition for poker basics than it should be.
i didn't trust online sites at all in the beginning, i believed ppl always
cheat or sites are always ragged... but i had no choice, i couldn'

it's all about read, stack size, and image.
a lot of new players play too straight forward, and fear to bet for
information. so they tend to play an "easy and friendly" game, where
everyone just plays in "reasonable" ways (reasonable here is more like
playing like your own style), no trick, small little bluff, ppl always win
with nuts or nice hands...
poker is a game of incomplete information, but still there're pieces of
information can be put together, then weighed against risk/retu

from what you wrote. You may want to 3bet in position a little more
with you suited hands, small pairs to open up your game. Bluff is
not very profitable at small stakes, nobody folds top pair, second
pair. We are all donks.For the spot you described,I suggest to play
the board texture more instead of your hold cards.For example, Axx
flop is what people call dry flop. It is very hard to hit that flop,
people play face cards, sm
