d*****o 发帖数: 2868 | 1 so i was playing texas holdem on ft last night. I was in position and i had
aj, suited, so i raised 5 times the bb, 2 other players called me, the flop
was ace 4 8, no flush draw, the player in front_of me went all in w/ less
than 1 buck, i reraised, b/c i wanted to put pressure on the player that was
behind me. However, he called my bet, we both checked on the turn and
river. It turned out that_he had ace queen, so he won the_pot b/c of his
kicker.
My question is i lost the pot b/c it was j | f*****g 发帖数: 15860 | 2 cmft.
trust me, we all paid enough "tuition" to learn that AJ, AT, A9 are indeed
so called trouble hands in cash games.
you could play them occasionally, if:
1) you know your opponents' ranges well;
2) you have position;
3) you can play it differently.
in your case, i'd say:
1) 5x is big for this hand (well, micro stake);
2) out of position;
3) you put too much value on suited, it only adds a few percents winning
chance;
4) hitting an A on flop actually is worse than hitting a J, because for J,

It seems you were still unsure how to play in this situation.
Either check or bet on turn would be fine and probably get the same result.
It was you opponent who play too conservatively.
If I was him I would bet on turn since when you check on turn I know you
didn't have AK, nor two pairs, so I would bet on turn and river.
And you would still call.

| d*****o 发帖数: 2868 | 4 anyway, maybe i should have explained the pot more accurately. The blind is
0.05/0.02 and it is capped at $1.5 per hand. After the player in front of
me went all in, i reraised to the max, the guy behind
me called. It turned out that the player who went all in had ace 10, so. I
mean i learned my mistake, plus i was getting sloppy after playing for 4
hrs. i was getting a little tired, but i kept playing cuz i was winning. | p********a 发帖数: 6437 | 5 nothing wrong, except that, 1st person all in, but the value, say is $1,
then you have 100BB, 100$, and you reraise all in 100$, get called by AQ.
only thing wrong will be overbetting (in bankroll sense) ur AJ, just like fryking describes. | f*****g 发帖数: 15860 | 6 he's short stack, so he didn't make a mistake.
you decided to play AJ, so post flop, you didn't make a mistake since it's
cap game.
but overall, AJs is not a big hand, not worth to play a big pot in most
cases. too many ppl lose more than they win with such hands only because it
looks pretty, hehe.
