I am at bb with 64o 3 guy limp in.(pot is 3200)
flop 2c4c6h.
I bet out 2000 1 call rest dropped.
turn is a 10d.
what do I do here?
To tourney 高手, my question is mainly on sizing. The stack size very
awkward. I feel I am committed anyway once I put in a turn bet.
How much do I bet on the turn? Should I have bet more on the flop and all in turn?
if the river is a 5s. What do you do? Can we consider check fold or bet smallish/fold here if we didn't go all in on the turn? | y********n 发帖数: 2063 | 2 committed.
Read cmis91's post before, I think he is a little too preserved in MTT.
Recently, I played a lot of SNGs. Getting some new understanding about MTT,
because the payout structure is top heave. So, it is much like cash games,
no ICM should be involved.
In this case, only 5-6 ppl get paid. It is long way to go to get into the
money. The strategy is to gamble it up.

| c*****t 发帖数: 817 | 3 I will gladly pot the flop (or even overbet the flop) and shove the turn,
knowing that this is the right play. You got a stack-to-pot ratio of 4 on
the flop, which means that you should be committed even if you only got a
TPTK, not the mention that you got top 2-pair here -- much stronger than
TPTK. | c*****t 发帖数: 817 | 4 BTW, I think for this hand you should get committed and shove even at the
bubble.
The ICM model mostly says that, at bubble, if a bigger stack has shown
aggression and shoved, you can consider folding even when you think you are
likely ahead. This is because calling is +EV on chips but -EV on money.
Here it is a totally different story since your opponent merely called. You
are most likely ahead and you have fold equity. So you should take the
initiative and shove. If your opponent chooses to call, which will hurt both
of you and benefit everyone else. So be it. You cannot fold this hand, just
because of the fear that your opponent might be a donk and call you with
anything to suck you out | W********m 发帖数: 7793 | 5 Your explanation does not answer my question. If i pot flop, shove turn he
is unlikely to call it. I win the pot, but it does not maximize my ev in
terms of chips. If I bet gradually, i maximize ev but running the risk of
him calling without odds but suck out on me and kick me out of the
tournament. Cash game is easy, because I just need to maximize my chips (
cash) and I can rebuy all the time. But in tournament, maximizing chip ev
put myself in larger risk of being kick out of the tournament. I just can't
seem to find the right answer for it. It is like the hand Matt Affleck got
kicked out of the WSOP main event last year, his play is completely the best
in terms of maximizing chip gain. However he put his tournament in a much
greater risk by slow playing AA because his opponents mistakenly thinking
that he is pot committed. If Matt has played his AA aggressively, he would
have win a much smaller pot but safely get to the final table. What is
really the correct play here? I really do not know. | p**********1 发帖数: 1458 | 6 I like chemcat's pot size bet on the flop and shove the turn. just my
2cents, be aware I am no high hand though. forget about survival, majority
of the time, every +EV chance, in terms of chips, is good to get your stack
in the middle. min-cash sucks, just look at how much the top two players get
in the payout structure. ICM kicks in mostly when facing decisions for your
whole medium to large stack, with presence of some short stacks, at the
final table. or you got a tiny stack at min-cash bubble.

| c*****t 发帖数: 817 | 7 When you are far away from the money, it is the same as cash game.
Even when you are at the bubble, if it is an MTT with thousands of entries,
then it is still the same as cash game since the real beef is at the final
table.
However, that is just the theory. In practice, I am just following my heart.
Whenever I feel uncomfortable slow playing, I will just shove since I know
that it might not maximize my gain but at least it is EV+. For example, if
it is my 1st WSOP main event game and I am getting close to the money, then
I definitely wont slow pay and risk my tournament life. It will be
psychologically destructive if I tried to trap my opponent but got outdrawn
and missed the payout. If it is a random $5 buy-in tournament, then I dont
mind slow playing and taking the risk. I guess it all depends on how much
risk you can afford.
Personally, I never slow pay two-pair. It is so vulnerable and so easy to
get counterfeited. |
