发帖数: 155 | 1 After a 2-month hiatus from poker, I went to Turning Stone again last week.
There is a major poker tournament going on so there are more players than
usual.
Bought in for the maximum $ 200 in $1/2 no limit. The table was not too bad.
There were two boys and a black guy who seem weak. After a few orbits, I
limped in with T9o in late position, and the flop was T9x rainbow, giving me
top two pairs. I bet the pot, about $15 and one of the boys called. The turn
was an 8. The pot was about $45. The villain boy had about $75 left. Checked
to me, I bet $30, and he called rather quickly. River 7. Villain dunk bet
all-in. I regretted not pushing all-in on the turn but with ~$145 pot it
seemed the pot-odds was too good not to call. He showed J8o. It seemed he
wouldn’t fold an open-ended straight draw. I lost about $100, and I felt
the painful sting of losing. I went for a walk and then topped-off my stack back to $200.
With 88, I called a ~$15 raise preflop. The board was AAQ rainbow, three
handed, and I was the first to act. Checked all the way to the river with
blanks on the later two streets, villain (the same boy) who was last to act
finally bet $15. I called, hoping he had a smaller pair. And the guy in the
middle folded. Villain showed JJ. "Shit! This boy has my number!" I thought
The guy in the middle was kicking himself. He probably had a pair of queens.
Went for another walk and I felt the call might be OK on the 88 hand, but not good on the
straight hand.
When I came back, I was moved to a different table and everything changed. A
happy, drunk guy was babbling and gambling, blind-raising and betting out
almost each hand. The black guy moved there too, who liked to call big
bets thin and his bet size was often proportional to his hand strength.
There was a girl with a big stack ~$800 who was tight preflop but loved to
chase draws. There were also two old gentlemen, who seemed weak-tight. One
of the old gentlemen folded a winning flush on the river against the black
guy and the drunk in a big pot. I was in poker heaven!
I raised preflop with AJo in late position. The flop was J7x with two hearts,
giving me TPTK on a somewhat wet board and I bet pot to protect my hand.
Called by two people, the loose black guy and the preflop-tight girl. The
turn was a Qc, creating two clubs on the board and an overcard. The tight
girl check-raised me all-in and I only had about $80 left and the pot was
already about $200. I didn’t feel too good about this, but the girl just
called a bet on the flop and didn't check-raise or bet out so it didn’t seem she had a
made set or two pairs. The Q didn't complete any draws but
generated additional flush draw. I reluctantly called. Black guy called too,
somewhat to my surprise. The river is an Ace, giving me top two pairs. The
girl said, "guys, I missed". I raked a ~$400 pot and had some chips to play
with now.
I called a multi-way preflop raise with 44. The flop was 245o. Hallelujah! I
check-raised big on the flop. Got the same two callers, the black guy and the
girl. The turn was an 8. Girl went all in, and I snap called. The river was
a 5, and the girl said solemnly “I have a straight!”, showing 67s. I
showed my full house and raked in a $900 pot. What a “well-timed suckout”
on my part! The girl said: “what was happening?” In no more than 15
minutes, the girl went bust and donated all the rest of her money to the
drunk, which I liked a lot.
I had red aces (AhAd) and reraised the drunk's blind raise ($15) to $45, and
he called. The flop was Qxx with two hearts. I bet $100, quickly called by
the drunk. The turn brought another heart. Check-check. River another heart,
giving me the nut flush on a non-paired board. I bet $175, and the drunk
called. I raked in another ~$600 pot. The drunk now only had about $300 left
and said: "good smack-down!" I was thinking maybe I should have gone all in
? Maybe I lost $300 here. I cashed out $1100 soon after. The total win was ~
$720 in about three hours.
Good things I did: top off my stack all the time; read opponents; take a
walk every 45 min using the timer on my iphone; overall balanced and hopeful
mindset. And luck was on my side today.
