最近想quit poker， 特来问问大家有啥建议？ seriously asking，请大家轻拍
本人在加州湾区，没打过online poker，以前是朋友家小打打，去年开始去local的
casino（20分钟车程），频率是一周一次，每次带300－500cash过去打2－3-5的NL
table，输光就走人。去年基本上是去3次输两次，down 了大概2－3k，今年开始慢慢适
应了，发觉只要找准桌上水平臭的打，基本上能赢，而这边的bay101 和 matrix的2-3-
5 regular 上水平臭的还真不少，deep stack的2－3－5上高手较多，打过几次都输，
就回到了regular的2-3-5。现在几个月的胜率到了赢两次输一次的情况，慢慢爬出了坑
，记帐本上显示现在up 了2－3k。
问题来了，以前总是觉得poker 有意思，比什么black jack要公平，打得好可以赢钱。
最近好不容易从输钱的坑里爬出来，结果一算，每次打4小时，加上commute，总共5小
时，每周一次，一年下来250小时，hourly rate才8刀。就算以后赢率更高，也大不了
到个20刀去（unlikely）。这么一算，就觉得打poker很没意思了，有这250小时的时间
，用在工作上可以每天多工作一小时，用在学习上，可以修好几门课了。这样用的回报
绝对高于去打poker。就是用去锻炼也比打poker好。。。
所以现在我是serious的想quit poker，但是呢，每个周末一到，就忍不住想去，虽然
知道去了也就那样，输赢几百，但是就是忍不住想去。周五不去周六就一定去。。。现
在打poker的输赢没对经济有任何影响，但是就是觉得花的时间太多，能够quit就好了
。。。。 大家有啥好建议。。。 | T*********k
发帖数: 1621 | 2 Poker 这个东西是戒不掉的。除非你输的连底裤都没有了，否则你再怎么不打，过一段
时间总有那一种 urge 要 back in action。 美国的日子这么枯燥，大多数人也没有泡
吧或泡妞的习惯的话，Poker 是为数不多能打发时间，有刺激，而且不花钱还能赚的钱
（假如你水平还可以的话）娱乐活动了。
如果你打的 stake 不影响你 finance 的话，看不出为什么要 quit poker。打得累了
就少打些呗。本来每周去一次，改每两周去一次，然后每个月去一次。香港第一花花公
子赵又曾就说过，他要 dump 一个妞，就逐渐疏远她，然后感情自然淡了。你就把
poker 当妞好了。
像你们离赌场近的，要完全脱离 poker 就更难了。哥离赌场 5-6 个小时 round trip
，以前是抱着可歌可泣的精神每星期一来回，现在去一次要给自己打气很久。如果赌场
离我只有 20 分钟，哥就不知道还能憋的住憋不主。
哥本来以为家里有娃的话，周末日理万机，就不会想到去打 poker。可现在看起来也不
尽然。具体例子请参见前版大和现版大。 | o******g

不近。 black friday 以来两年， 哥打了就两三百小时，running around 40$ per
hour，却越打越少， 今年上半年才打了 35小时。 这咋整？ 想想周末去赌场， 开车

treat it as a hobby, just like those old grandmas in china, they play
mahjong every day and night. some of them may be small winners over time,
but have you ever heard they treat this as a "career" or "side job"?
to be honest, once a week is already too much as a hobby. for 99.999% of us,
the couple thousands/yr "winning"/"loss" won't change our life at all.
however, more likely, you'll end up with "wasting", say, 8*52=416 hours of
very valuable weekend family/leisure time.

好处是flexible. 可以一边干别的事，一边玩， 不用去赌场一搞就是一天, no life

发帖数: 7793 | 9 俺是真心佩服能每礼拜去赌场的牌友， 要俺单程开45分钟每礼拜去赌场真做不到， 如
果15分钟还可以考虑一下，至少可以打打短session, 所以我很羡慕你赌场开到家门口
啦。
不过如果我每小时只赢7刀，我肯定立马不再去了。 干点别的啥不好啊。

here and 2 hours there, and every day (well, if online is legalized).
with a full time job, it's not likely you'd play 40hrs live/month, but piece
of cake for online.

comp (go hell WV!).
i could easily stop by for 2 hours hit and run, and greatly reduce the
tilting factor (AK: "damn, it took me 6 hours on the road...")

发帖数: 7793 | 12 right now, playing on-line has zero effect on my life. When I turn on the
TV at night, I also turn on the laptop. Sitting on the couch, I play for a
little once a while. If i don't play poker, i would be playing some old pc
games while watching TV. Both are waste of time anyway. The good thing is
that I don't really care what is showing on the TV. The wife and daughter
can change channel all they want. lol. If I want to play on-line poker
seriously i would have gone to my desktop with a larger screen with more
tables opened instead of max 6 tables, but I have not turned on my desktop
for almost a month now.
Driving one-way 45 mins to casino? that is a totally different ball game.
On a weekend? that is even worse.

without online poker, you could do many other things, not the same thing
over and over. even watching TV, you're getting new information every day.
playing pc games is another way to relax, let alone teaching your kids
something new, etc., ......
the big difference is that you got options. poker can consume us exclusively
. friends of mine who don't poker go hiking, golfing, fishing, road trips, .
.. way more often and can enjoy as a family.

fishing, road trips, ... way more often and can enjoy as a family" at 9pm on
a Monday, I would totally do it. But for now, I would do this for the
weekend when I can while others go to the casino making 40$ per hour minus
fixed cost.
