strain softening has been solved at latest before 1980s, in china
Prof. Yin Youquan of Beijing University had a series of papers in
Acta Mech, in europe there are more people working/worked on this
field, the current trend is to apply the consitutitive model, no need
to develp such model.
if my memory serves me well, i remembered that in Journal of Aplied
mechanics, IJSS and other, in early 1980, you'll find tons of such
papers, most notably by later Prof. ***(forget, in Berleley).

发帖数: 54 | 4 constitutive model for softening material is still a heat point in the field
of geotechnical engineering. there is an international conference on softening
every year.
so i dont think it is too old or has been solved totally.
as i know, a paper on the constitutive model that i studying now was publish
in the ASCE in 1995. and there are still some problem on it, such as the
convergence problem when applying the FEM.
