The reality for foreign doctors in Canada is the following: besides the
requirement that internationally trained doctors have to pass the Canadian
medical exams (which are MCCEE, MCCQE1, MCCQE2, NAC OSCE) with very high
scores to hope for a spot in a residency program, they also need to take
IELTS. Moreover, spots in residency programs for internationally trained
physicians are with the ratio of 1 spot for 10 candidates, while for
Canadian medical graduates the ratio is 1 spot for 1 graduate (who are
taking just MCCQE1 and MCCQE2 of the mentioned exams). Thus it is obvious
how much mental effort, professional knowledge and emotional preparation it
takes of a foreign trained physician to get a spot, unlike Canadian
graduates who enter residency programs having obtained very low GPA (grade
point average) and hardly passing exam scores. Thus, what can we assume as
regards the above stated situation?- Besides highly discriminatory practices
in the medical field Canada also strives to have mediocre medical
professionals?
