to mid Oct in NH and VT. If mid-late Oct, then you may see some nice foliage
in central-west MA.

suggestion on following several websites is a good one. Don't fix your
schedule just yet.
As for the spots, I would strongly suggest the lake district in Maine.

Last time when I did the week-long foliage tour, I had great experience
over there. I then moved on to Acadia National Park, which was great too.
