Bring your passport with you when shopping. Ask the store/vendor to give you
a VAT receipt, if the amount satisfies the requirement (100 pounds and up,
but not very sure).
Now there are 2 ways to get the refund:
1. Bring this receipt with your goods to any VAT counter in at various
locations (shopping centers/districts) and have the service center process
the refund for you. But this way I think you still need to mail the forms.
Or,
2. Have the receipt and goods with you at the airport when leaving UK.
Present everything to Custom officers and they will stamp the receipt so
that you can get cash or credit at the airport after immigration and let
them deal with the forms.
The process is very much the same in EU. So check out Rick Steves' relevant
web page. |
