剩下的时间有两个选择：
1）直接开去page，看羚羊谷，马蹄湾，lake powell....
2) 或者开去Taos，然后转回Santa Fe，回ABQ
请问去哪个比较靠谱呢？ 个人对自然风光比较感兴趣。New Mexico 还有哪些风景比较好的地方呢？
另外，听说New mexico的路比较难开，山路很多，需要注意些什么呢？ 一个人开，心里没谱....

elevation, more snow, cold. Winter is not the best time to visit Antelope.
best time to new mexico are either Christmas (birding, canyon road, native
indian ceremony) or end of Sept (fall color, balloon fiesta, Taos feast day)
. so if you have not purchase flight ticket, and you have time during
christmas season, go at that time. best.
fly to abq
1) drive north to santa fe for Christmas eve, go to canyon road. The next
day, visit native indian village, such as taos Pueblo
there are some ntional monument, but not open on christmas day: petroglyph
national monument, bandelier,
Kasha-Katuwe Tent Rocks National Monument
2) then drive to south
white sand dune, Bosque del Apache National Wildlife Refuge, carlsbad cavern
national park if you can drive further.
the drive from abq to santa fe, or abq to Las Cruces is highway
from santa fe to taos you can take either low road (easy) or high road (
tough, particularly after snow, but high road has better view, and
interesting stop)
when you drive to Ghost Ranch, Abiquiu, cuba, Jemez, los Alamos, Banderlier,
you drive up to the mountain. I've been there
twice during christmas, no problem to drive a sedan. However I didn't
encounter big snow either. I went from 12/23-12/27 last year, no snow, but
heard my friend saying 12/29 of last year get huge snow storm. so depends on
this year's weather.
I went there by myself two during winter time. generally speaking, downtown
ABQ is not safe (like airport), It's a poor place, so use your precaution.
if you are girl, then use extra precaution.
Where you plan to stay at night? on christmas day, if you are at taos, make
sure visit http://taosinn.com/, good food, local people, live music. at abq, visit frontier, right next to U of NM.
if you like photography, I recommend
1) Bosque del apache
in Bosque, pass vistor center, turn left you will see the gate. if you come
early, there is no one there. if you want to see sunrise, then turn left,
drive about 200meter, there is parking, and deck. otherwise, drive straight,
and it's a loop (anti-clock).
2)
white sand dune open about 20 minute before sunrise. the ranger will come to
unlock the gate. drive straight for about 110-15 minutes. turn left,
parking the car, then walk as far as you can, sunrise from your behind, and
mountain in front of you. for best photo opportunity, arrive before sunrise,
and after sunset. since the gate is locked, so some people choose to hike in
(a long walk). So you best bet is wait after sunset, bring your tripod. but
most importantly, bring 保鲜膜，wrap around your lens, dslr body, the sand
can enter right into your sensor.
日落后的景色很好，但是白沙丘的特点就是白，要照出白的效果， 一是日出前（由于
开门晚所以很难赶到），要么是等太阳下去了。 等太阳下去了， 用三脚架， 曝光3-
10秒，曝光补偿加两格， 照出来的沙丘才反映出白色。 风沙大的话， 最好不要拿出
相机， 无孔不入。
只要你不是出来太晚， 门不会关。我去年圣诞去的时候， 日落后半个小时还在公园，
等开到门口的时候几乎太阳下山45分钟了。 我不知道RANGER会不会清场， 你如果要
在沙丘里走很远， 最好带上你的gps， 或指南针。 天黑下来， 看四周都是一个摸样
。 再带一个头灯。 水是必须的，一人3瓶。
3) Chimayo (high road), 20 min from santa fe. it's a nice church, good
opportunity to take a winter picture.
4) santa fe
Santa fe itself has great photo opportunity. on christmas eve, park your car
around canyon road, and walk along canyon road. it's packed, but fun to
walk, see Candles in Bags - Known locally as farolitos...
5)I went to Chaco, but not Bisti badlands. they are near each other. off
the highway 550, the road to Chaco is bumpy, I heard same for Bisti. so if
there is winter snow storm approaching, definitnely not recommend for the
winter time.
New Mexico is high desert. it's dry, but it has high elevation, so the air,
sky, light is different.
if you have time, you can drive 1 hour from Bosque del Apache to VLA.
if you have extra time, go to carlsbad NP, maybe too far away for you.
at 30 miles north of Las Cruze, there is immigrant checkpoint. make sure you
bring your i-20 or green card, or passport. drive license only is not good
enough. if you only visit Bosque del apache or north, no issue. if go deep
south, bring your document.
较好的地方呢？

part.
Right now, I plan to go to Bosque del Apache, white sands, carlsbad NP. It
seems to me that there is still some extra time, do you think if it is a
good idea to go to the petrified forest NP from Socorro? It's about 4 hour

发帖数: 3349 | 5 有多余时间去Santa Fe吧，NM的首府，离ABQ只有一个小时车程。
Santa Fe可以在Plaza area逛逛，还有Canyon Road. 另外Santa Fe有几十个Museum，
最著名的可能是georgia o'keeffe museum.
另外可以去Taos。有Taos Pubelo（世界文化遗产）。还有Rio Grande Gorge Bridge可
以吃看看。
在ABQ的话，可以去坐Sandia Peak Tramway缆车（号称世界上最长的缆车）到山顶看雪
景以及城市灯光。不过这个时候，山顶上估计非常冷。ABQ另外可以在old town逛逛，
还有一个原子弹博物馆。
ps：那个时候New Mexico也是非常好的滑雪季节。如果对滑雪感兴趣的话，不妨一试。Taos就有
很棒的滑雪场。

1) from carlsbad, go south to big bend. I never been there. and I have two
friends grew up there, and like that place.
when you come back, you can visit Roswell, and fly home from abq
you have plenty of opportunity to visit petrified forest if you fly to phx
or abq in the future.
2) from Socorro, drive 60 west, to VLA, stop for 0.5-1 hour, then
springerville, take 180 north to the south entrance of
petrified forest, cross the park, you will hit the railroad and route 66. I
like the sections south of route 66 (petrified forest, newspaper rock), but
north of route 66 has visitor center, inn, and the painted desert (I went
there during early morning, the light is not good. so it's better to visit
at late afternoon for sunset). then you leave park from north entrance. and
drive 40 east back to ABQ. here you two choice
a) drive all the way back to ABQ, and on the road, stop at yellowhorse trade
center at Gallup, for 15 minute, take some picture. then further west, take
route 38 to Acoma Pueblo (so called sky city). if you want to tour the
pueblo, you need to pay for some fee.
b) you can drive along 191 north to Canyon De Chelly, a 30-45 minute drive
from Chinle. visit white house ruin (you can hike down to the ruin), further
down, you can see the spide rock. sunset is around 4:30, so timing your
drive, if it's too late, no need to drive to spide rock, you can't see
anything. basically it's a soarding rock in the canyon floor, best for
sunset.
I know you are inteseting at bisiti, so call the Chaco visitor center in
advance and check for the road condition, if it's still good, then you can
skip big bend or Canyon De Chelly, and go there directly. Chaco's campground
is pretty good if you want to camp .

option 2. The basic plan is
ABQ->Bosque->white sands-> carlsbad NP->back to Socorro->Petrified forest NP
->back to ABQ
And try to visit other interesting place on the way, like VLA:)
I guess this would be enought for a 7 day trip, don't want to drive to much,
need to have plenty of time taking pictures:)

around ABQ, Sandia Peak Tramway will be a must place:) May be walk around
the old town~~~

从 white sands向东近道走 82去那里，夏天单程至少要3个半小时。中途cloudcroft的
lincoln national forest那段是山路。
