I would recommend skipping Valdez and kayak Aialik glacier (from seward)
instead. This will save you a lot of driving and it's just, if not more
beautiful. It's $399, a bit more expensive, but it includes 2 hours of water
taxi ride each way, so you get a cruise as well. This way you can skip the
kenai fjord cruise on your list.
At exit glacier, instead of doing an 8 hour hike, I'd recommend ice climbing
(if you are young and reasonably fit). It is so much more fun than just
hiking! We've had great experience with Exit Glacier guides. http://www.exitglacierguides.com/. Better yet, splurge on their combo of heli-hiking and aialik kayaking

Personally, I don't see the appeal of clam digging. But to each his own.
At homer, I'd splurge on bear watching. You get so close to the bears, and
it was so nice to see them chasing bright red salmon in the river. Truly a
wonderful experience.
You can 泡温泉 anywhere, why drive 9 hours to chena for it? I would only go
if you are guaranteed to see 看极光. But the chance of that happening in the
only day you are there in summer is pretty low. I would skip it.
I know some of the activities I suggested are expensive, but I am sure you
are already spending a lot of money in getting to Alaska and renting a car,
why not spend a little bit more to make sure you have a wonderful experience
!

I think I will listen to you and cancel the trip to Chena to spend more days
on Seward and Valdez. The reason we go to Valdez is we want to visit the
Wrangeli-St Elias NP as well, and drive on Denali Hwy to Denali NP.
We've seen the bear catching salmons close enough before, but never do clam
digging, so... Ice climbing sounds interesting, which one did you choose?
And is it dangerous?
Do you have any other suggestions on activities of Seward, Homer, and Valdez
? Thanks.

what you are doing. I am planning go Denali for 2 nights, then drive to
Valdez for couple days (sea Kayak, some short trails or Worthington Glacier)
. After that will try to catch the ferry to Whittier/ Seward for 2 nights,
will do a whale/ Glacier day cruise (do the have glacier wildlife cruise
combined?), and a fishing trip.
The last day would be in Anchorage to walk around.
Have you purchased the air tix yet? Where do you planning to stay?
I am trying to find some places that with kitchen so I don't need to go out
everyday, can't afford that. Any suggestions?

climbing--picture yourself suspended with ropes, climbing the vertical ice
slopes using crampons and ice axes.

year.
Now I might skid Valdez, as others say it's a bit too much driving for just
10 days (I will travel with my parents and uncle/ aunt, all are around 65-70
, but in very good shape). I am going to Denali 1st is because I want to go
fishing the last day then I may able to birng the fish I cought back to NYC
:)
So now I might do 3 nights in Denali, 2 nights in Seward, 1 in Homer, in
between will be in Anchorage to resupply. Btw, do you know any cabins/
lodges that is with kitchen in these areas? I am planning to cook some of
the meals, can't afford to eat out everyday in Alaska.

发帖数: 343 | 17 我没打算从Homer开到Valdez，我打算坐Ferry过去，这样也就算坐了Cruise还省钱。然
后从Valdez经Paxon开Denali Hwy过去Denali NP，也没多远，你反过来走也可以。
抓了鱼，人家应该会给你清洁好，我看有的地方还能给真空包装好还管寄，其实你真心
可以先去钓鱼，接下来几天就拿在路上吃好了。Denali的住宿不便宜阿，我们打算Camp
几天，但是路上的小镇你可以试试看，Talkeena之类的应该有便宜的住宿吧

the clams? Clam digging sounds fun to me too. Maybe I can stay there for

parents is they will feel bore in the ship if they don’t speak English. I
am planning a 10 day land trip with my parents to Alaska this end of August,
they are all over 65. My parents like sightseeing and not crazy about the
cruise, so I will just take them to Denali NP, Seward and Homer to see the
wildlife/ glaciers/ salmon run..
