travel a lot, those $1 tips could add up. Don't know how much of them are in
the 70%. I once stayed 200 nights at hotel in one year, it was $100+ out of
my own pocket as I always tips regardless of the length of my stay. (Second
half of the year, I started to put "DND" tag at the door to decline house
keeping, as it was really not necessary to clean my room everyday. Then I
just tips for my last day, and that saved me a lot of tips.)
For most people, you don't travel weeks in weeks out, it probably doesn't
really make a difference to you financially either way. Therefore I would
tips because the housekeepers are earning pretty low rate. Some extra
incomes would help them a lot, and could possibly motivate them to clean the
rooms more diligently. |

housekeeping I didn't use, if I don't need to show a receipt for the tips to
get it reimbursed.

的人也不好意思回， 不大方啊， 多没面子。 结果不知道要不要给的就以为所有的人
都给， 所以自己下次也给了， 所以中国人里其实比美国人给小费的人要多。
我也问过周围的美国人， 也是多部分都不给。

constantly on the road, "cash without receipts" is usually quite strict or
not even an option, so people choose to not go through hoops to get the tips
reimbursed or not to tips at all.
Like I said, I could make a few hundreds of extra dollars by taking
advantage of the "cash with receipts" option for tips I didn't actually give
, if I was on the road 200+ days. (not saying I would do it, but that's a
glaring hole I believe some people would take advantages of)
