Lingus or should I ask to transfer the avios first and then book from their
sites? Normally how much avios is required from US to Italy?

know the detail schedule before I call?

For Airberlin availability use either aa.com or ba.com. AB fly JFK-DUS/TXL.
You can then connect to FCO.
If you live in TX then Airberlin is not suitable for you since they only fly
to JFK/ORD/MIA. You can try to use AA for connection.
