inaccurate -- rather wildly so. The "liberal" and "conservative" tags have
switched back and forth between the Republican and Democratic parties many
times in our history. Southern Democrats were the primary force behind the
drive to protect slavery and then to reinstate Jim Crow laws under
Reconstruction. Republicans were the party of abolition and union. Most

Forget the sound bytes. The health care issus, etc. You know, all this
talk is meaningless. Bottom line is that Martha ran a lousy campaign. Don
't you all read the newspapers?? I've been around a long time and never
have I seen a candidate so personally uninvolved and aloof--right from the
beginning. If you can't get out and shake hands with people, the issues are
meaningless. |
