Wales-born reporter Gareth Montgomery-Johnson and cameraman Nicholas Davies-
Jones, of Berkshire, arrived back in the UK last night after being released
on Sunday .
The pair, who work for Iran's English-language Press TV, were accused of
being Israeli spies by anti-Gaddafi forces.
And they said today they were held because they had medical supplies with
Welsh words printed on them.
Gareth, 36, from Carmarthen, West Wales, said: "They thought this was Hebrew
and we were Israeli spies."
They were detained on February 22 by the Swehli brigade — one of dozens of
militias that helped to force out Colonel Gaddafi last year.
The pair had their camera equipment confiscated after being taken prisoner
in the capital Tripoli.

They were held for three weeks before being handed over to the Libyan
government, but have now been reunited with their families in the UK.
Gareth said: "The conditions were not good at all. I don't know how much I
can say.
"While we were there we were given no information at all. Now we're
overwhelmed and thankful.
"We're pleased to be back with our own families because they've been through
a similar ordeal."
A spokesman for the Foreign Office said: "We welcome the release of the two
British journalists who have recently been detained in Libya."
The pair were released after admitting entering the country illegally.
