Our governor has been doing yeoman’s work for days now as the storm
approached and then devastated parts of New Jersey Monday night.He’s been
out front doing his job, which is being a leader at a critical time.
Naturally, some folks still want to talk politics. He’s having none of it.
“I have no idea nor am I the least bit concerned or interested. I’ve
got a job to do here in New Jersey that’s much bigger than presidential
politics and I could care less about any of that stuff. I have a job to do,
” said Christie on “Fox and Friends.”
“I’ve got 2.4 million people out of power. I’ve got devastation on
the shore. I’ve got floods in the northern part of my state. If you think
right now I give a damn about presidential politics than you don’t know me.”
The devastation on the Jersey shore is unimaginable.
The governor says the devastation at the New Jersey shore is “
unthinkable.”
Christie says the first priority for officials is to try to rescue those
still stranded by flood waters on barrier islands and elsewhere.
He says the full extent of damage will not be known for another day or
two.
He says parts of amusement piers at Seaside Heights have washed into the
Atlantic Ocean, railroad bridges are badly damaged, train tracks on the
North Jersey Coast line have been swept away, rail cars were carried by
floodwaters onto the New Jersey Turnpike and homes were swept off their
foundations in Ocean County.
Christie is asking private employers statewide to let workers stay home
today as road crews can begin to clear.
