In an interview with Bloomberg's Julianna Goldman, President Barack Obama
stated, "I think America is poised to take off." The main obstacle, in Obama
's mind, however, is political dysfunction.
"We're seeing pretty strong consumer confidence, despite weaknesses in
Europe and even in Asia. I think America is poised to take off. And the
question is, let's make sure that we don't have a self-inflicted wound,
because there are a lot of silly games played up on Capitol Hill," Obama
told Goldman.
The interview focused mainly on the economy. Obama pushed for tax hikes.
"So what I'm going to need, what the country needs, what the business
community needs, in order to get to where we need to be, is an
acknowledgment that folks like me can afford to pay a little bit higher rate
. If we combine that with a tax reform process and entitlement reform, then
we can get to a $4 trillion deficit reduction package that actually helps
our economy grow, rather than weakens our economy, either in the short term
or in the long term," said Obama.
Obama also praised the U.N. ambassador, Susan Rice, when he was asked
whether she'd be the next secretary of state.
"I'm going to make a decision about who's going to be the best secretary of
state, given we've got a changing world, and there are great opportunities
for the United States to show leadership around the world. There are a lot
of challenges and dangers, as well. And I'm going to make sure that we've
got a full national security team that can give me the best advice possible
and do everything they can to keep the American people safe. And Susan Rice
has done a great job as U.N. ambassador, but I haven't made a decision about
secretary of state," said Obama.
And just as "America is poised to take off," according to Obama, "America
actually is poised to be the world leader for another century, if we can fix
some of this political dysfunction."

"The most important thing we can do for national security, though, is to get
our economy on track," said the president. "And we are in a very strong
position - as I travel around the world, it's fascinating. European leaders,
Asian leaders, they all say to me, America actually is poised to be the
world leader for another century, if we can fix some of this political
dysfunction." | m*********a 发帖数: 3299 | 2 Among industrialized countries, USA is performing far better than many other
countries. Europe and Japan are in recession once again and are far worse.
If you could hold your hatred for a short period time, the president is
right on the health of this country, which becomes better over his terms,
despite the fact that the pace of recovery is much slower than many of us
would like to see. | C****n 发帖数: 2324 | 3 Let's not talk about hatred, but if we really believe what a politician said
, we must be a moron! It's not just Obama, I mean every politician.
Don't listen to what they say, watch what they do! They will say anything to
get your vote.
