If you don't know this, I will illustrate a few things enjoyed by riches.
1. Inventing the offshore accounting rules, so basically avoiding paying
nothing in taxes. The fine example is GE.
2. categorizing incomes into different kinds. The kind that the rich gets
have the lowest tax rate ever, which is capped to 15%, and does not have to
pay social security and medicare taxes on them.
3. MOST IMPORTANT. They invented limited liability rule of corporations.
Their personal wealthy is shielded from the risk of doing business.
This is so huge for the riches. They could take unlimited risk and make a
killing on billions of profit and pass the money to their personal coffer.
When the company is bankrupted, they still enjoy billions of their wealthy.
In 20s, when BANKs and companies are bankruptied, the rich guys have to kill
themselves, in order not to pay the debts. IT IS DIFFERENT NOW. And they
don't have to.
The subprime mortgage company CEO paid himself several billions dollars of
money, by betting "successfully' on house. But when subprime scam was over,
the CEO is several billions dollar rich. And taxpayers pick up the debts of
the bankrupted company. Bankruptcy law is not written to get back the money
from CEOs. In the old day, this CEO had to kill himself to pay the mistake. |

class.
If you really want touch the rich, raise tax on wealth, not on INCOME.
People making $200K, heck, even $500K, is just on their way to be
financially free, has nothing to do with rich.
Most rich people may not make any money per year on book.
TAXing on property or wealth may be a moral solution, as THAT is targetting
the RICH. TAXing on $200K+ is hurting the working hard and responsible!
So what Obama is trying to do is to prevent any middle class from becoming
financial free, and even force you finally depend on the government.

They want to cap the deductible to $17,000. If you do some math, GOP's tax
plan will get more money from the people making $300K than Obama's, while
protecting the low tax rate enjoyed by the very wealthy.

I am one of the top 2%. And I prefer closing the loophole instead of raising
TAX. Simply because I can control my morgage payment, or living in a
smaller house, so I have more money left for myself.
Under Obama's plan, I have to spend as much as possible, buy a house as
bigger as possible, or else, I will be taxed anyway.
I think the morgage is one of the reasons created housing bubble.
The basic difference between GOP and DEM, in my opinion is:
GOP trust people, put your responsibility in your own hand, and you are free
to choose what life you want to live.
DEM think most people are stupid, and incapable of making right decisions.
So they want your money, and tell you how to live. To me, it's controlling
people's freedom.

target 2% which is not fair. Marginal tax rate should be raised for all and
burden need to shared so people can make rational choices. Wellfare needs
to be cut, but don't cut it blindly. Protection network for the weak need
to be there but the spirit should be to encourage people to work.
With all that said, it's hard to say raising tax for everyone in current
political atmosphere. I never understand why it's a sin to just say let's
raise the tax to pay the bills. It's just the sad reality.
