In a radio interview on Monday, Paul Ryan detailed the provisions of the
House Republicans' offer that the White House rejected over the weekend.
They asked for two basic things - no special treatment for members of
Congress and Obama administration and suspend the ObamaCare tax for
individuals that has already been suspended for employers.
Ryan said, "individuals can’t even sign up for Obamacare right now, so why
would you tax somebody for not complying with a law they can’t comply with."
"Seems to me those are really reasonable points. We said we would
negotiate how to do that, over the weekend. The President said,' I'm not
going to say yes, I'm not going to say no. Let's just think about this.'
"He spent the next day basically stalling us, only to call back John
Boehner Friday night to say 'No deal, I won't do this. I won't sit down and
talk to you guys.'
That's because Obama wanted unconditional surrender from Republicans -
complete and utter capitulation. He said from the beginning, he wouldn't
negotiate with them, and he didn't.
But Paul Ryan is right. The Individual Mandate has to be dealt with because
as John notes, people can't get into the federal exchanges because the
ObamaCrash site is not up to speed and it could be months before it's ready
to function properly.
Erick Erickson says he's hearing things...
The irony in all of this is that Obamacare’s individual mandate is
going to be delayed.
Just wait. Liberals are already whispering that it has to happen. They
can’t get the computers up and running. People aren’t signing up. They
whole process is broken.
But they also do not want to cave in to the GOP. So they will wait.
Barack Obama will wait for the GOP to surrender, then he will issue the
delay himself, just like he did with the employer mandate.
And Rep. Matt Salmon (R-AZ) reportedly said the same thing to reporters,
today:
"I'll predict it right now that within the next few months, the
president himself will delay the individual mandate," Salmon said during a
briefing with reporters. "At the end of the day, mark my words, he will end
up postponing it." | S**C 发帖数: 2964 | 2 It just takes 67 Senators and 218 Representatives, why wait?
