February, Media All Over It
Look, we all know the drill by now. Just imagine if Hunter Biden’s last
name was Bush, or Palin, and we can safely assume this would have been news
some time ago.
Vice President Joe Biden ’s son Hunter was discharged from the Navy
Reserve this year after testing positive for cocaine, according to people
familiar with the matter.
Hunter Biden, a lawyer by training who is now a managing partner at an
investment company, had been commissioned as an ensign in the Navy Reserve,
a part-time position. But after failing a drug test last year, his brief
military career ended.
Mr. Biden, 44 years old, decided to pursue military service relatively
late, beginning the direct-commission process to become a public-affairs
officer in the Navy Reserve in 2012. Because of his age—43 when he was to
be commissioned—he needed a waiver to join the Navy. He received a second
Navy waiver because of a drug-related incident when he was a young man,
according to people familiar with the matter. Military officials say such
drug waivers aren’t uncommon.
Mr. Biden was commissioned as an ensign on May 7, 2013, and assigned to
Navy Public Affairs Support Element East in Norfolk, Va., a reserve unit,
according to the Navy. In June 2013, after reporting to his unit in Norfolk,
he was given a drug test, which turned up positive for cocaine, according
to people familiar with the situation. Mr. Biden was discharged in February,
the Navy said.
Mr. Biden said in a statement that it was “the honor of my life to
serve in the U.S. Navy, and I deeply regret and am embarrassed that my
actions led to my administrative discharge. I respect the Navy’s decision.
With the love and support of my family, I’m moving forward.”
Sure, everyone, let’s just move on. After all this news is 11 hours old by
now. But still, we can’t help but wonder, cynics that we are:
So Biden's son was given the boot from the Navy after one month and we
find out 16 months later? Great job, media. http://t.co/S9YFR1EcBx

Big upside, though, it hasn’t affected his career:
Joe Biden's son is now head of legal affairs at Ukraine's largest gas
company. Speechless! http://t.co/8t6Q1jLK3E

Nice connections, even if you’re a cokehead. We weren’t the only ones
pondering:
How many media outlets knew Joe Biden's son was kicked out of the Navy
for cocaine back in February but refused to report on it?

Tut, tut, it’s a private matter.
If this were one of Palin's kids caught doing cocaine the media would
dive into it right down to the guy who grew the coca in Colombia.

Got that right.
We’re sure now the DC media will be digging deep and asking Joe Biden what
he knew and when he knew it. Oh, who are we kidding? This won’t even be a
story by sundown today. | T*********I 发帖数: 10729 | 2 "作为美国公认的反毒品斗士,拜登女儿公然吸毒的丑闻其实曾已令他大感困窘。就在
