CNN的Andy Copper 推荐过The Arts of the Deal 节录如下:
The following summary quotes from "The Art of The Deal" by Trump might shade
some light to his strategies on road to the candidacy:
*I am very high, and then and I just keep pushing and pushing to get what I
’m after. Sometimes I settle for less than I sought, but in most cases I
still end up with what I want.
*The best thing you can do is deal from strength, and leverage is the
biggest strength you can have. Don’t make a deal without it!
*Leverage is having something the other guy wants, or better yet, needs, or
best of all, simply can’t do without. But that isn’t always the case,
which is why leverage always requires imagination and salesmanship.
*If you are a little different, or a little outrageous, or if you do things
that are bold or controversial, the press is going to write about you. But
from a pure business point of view, the benefits of being written about have
far outweighed the drawbacks. Even a critical story, which may be hurtful
personally, can be very valuable to your business.
*I play to people’s fantasies. People may not always think big themselves,
but they can still get very excited by those who do. That’s why a little
hyperbole never hurts. People want to believe that something is the biggest
and the greatest and the most spectacular.
*You can’t con people, at least not for long. You can create excitement,
you can do wonderful promotion and all kinds of press, and you can throw in
a little hyperbole. But if you don’t deliver the goods, people will
eventually catch on.
*Time Magazine: It was a simple, accessible drama about the contrast between
governmental incompetence and the power of effective private enterprise.
*I don’t deny that these laws put a crimp on the city, but I believe a far
bigger problem is leadership. You can get any job done through sheer force
of will and by knowing what you are talking about.
*Dishonesty is intolerable, but inaction and incompetence can be every bit
as bad.
*As hard as I push, in the end I’m practical. If it took making some
compromises to get the project moving forward, and the results didn’t
undermine the project’s economic viability, I was prepared to make the
change.
*Providing jobs, in my view, is a far more constructive solution to
unemployment than creating welfare programs.
*I do it to do it. But in the end, you’re measured not by how much you
undertake but what you finally accomplish.
