address to a joint session of Congress, former Attorney General Eric Holder
didn’t mince words regarding the South Carolina congressman.
“Somebody should have smacked his a--,” Holder told ESPN's The Undefeated
in an interview. “They should have ... told him to sit the f--- down.”

Wilson’s “You lie!” eruption during the president’s remarks followed a
promise from Obama that his proposal to reform America’s health care system
would not insure undocumented immigrants. Wilson later apologized, and the
House passed a resolution of disapproval against him. The outburst also
proved to be a financial windfall for Wilson, a Republican who saw his
fundraising numbers skyrocket in subsequent days.
Holder’s comments on Wilson’s outburst came amid a more expansive
interview on the often racially charged criticism faced by the president.
Holder, the first African-American attorney general, said the criticism
Obama faces is different than that of any of his predecessors.
“There is a unique feeling of fear — hatred is too strong a word — but a
feeling of anger, dissatisfaction with this president,” Holder said.
