Turning My Black Family, Young and Old, from the Dark Side

At birth, I was unusually small and had to be placed in an incubator. A
nurse called me her little peanut. My family embraced her nickname for me.
One of my nephews in Baltimore phoned his Uncle Peanut. He is black, 40-
something, and a Christian. Years ago, he learned a highly in-demand trade
which has earned him a very good living; owning a home and numerous big boy
toys; motorcycles and cars. He is living the American Dream, right?
His purpose for calling was to get my take on the presidential election;
Trump vs Hillary. I was stunned that he never heard of the Benghazi attack,
nor Hillary's role in the deaths of four Americans.
He was also clueless about Hillary's email scandal. I felt a little anxious,
pressured to dump as much info as possible into this low-info-voter in one
phone call. I encouraged him to see the new D'Souza movie, Hillary's America.
My nephew's ignorance regarding Hillary is a perfect example of what we are
up against, folks. Due to the mainstream media covering for her, I suspect
millions have never heard of any of Hillary's lies and corruption.
It was also disheartening hearing the negative view of his country embedded
in my nephew. His great life proves the American Dream is available to
anyone who chooses to go for it. He applied himself, learned a marketable
trade and made responsible choices. This formula usually works regardless of
race, gender, and etc. Ignoring his success, my nephew believes America
sucks for blacks. His mindset is the toxic result of decades of Democrats,
public education, and the mainstream media slandering our country.
My nephew believes our president and other Leftist's lie that cops make the
streets dangerous for blacks. I schooled my nephew about how blacks are
murdered by blacks, not cops. His hometown Baltimore is experiencing record-
breaking homicides -- blacks killing blacks. In Chicago, 20, 30, 40 blacks
are shot or killed by other blacks practically every weekend.
While rattling off all the facts and stats I could remember to prove my
points, I prayed. “God help me say what is necessary to open my nephew's
eyes.” I am sure some of you feel a similar performance anxiety whenever
gifted an opportunity to confront a liberal or enlighten a low-info-voter.
By the end of our phone call, I believe I convinced my nephew to come aboard
the Trump Train.
My 88-year-old black preacher dad phoned from Maryland. “Hey Peanut, what
did you think of Trump’s closing speech at the RNC?” Before I continue, I
want to express my gratitude that Dad is still with us; as witty, wise and
mentally sharp as ever.
It took several years, but my lifelong Democrat dad has left the dark side.
Dad is voting for Trump, divorcing the Democrats. He has even begun
recognizing liberal deceptions.
Dad said he listened to a new black talk radio show and it turned his
stomach. “All I heard was blacks blaming whites.” The host ranted that
Trump was a racist whose speeches were only for white people. Dad said the
host and callers acted like it was 1950 in America. Dad's negative response
to liberal's messaging was encouraging.
Dad said his political conversion has alienated him from blacks, even some
in his household. Dad said, “They think I'm the weird one.” I chuckled and
replied, “Welcome to my world, Dad.”
I told Dad not to stress over blacks who just don't get it. Their brains are
terminally infected with liberal poison, rendering them incapable of
hearing or accepting truth. Say a prayer for them and move on to blacks with
ears to hear.
Decades ago, my wife Mary was a young May Kay Cosmetics beauty consultant.
Mary was taught not to pursue potential new recruits who wanted to argue
about the business. Simply move on.
Dad and I chatted about the man in the Bible whose poor choices in life
landed him in hell. The suffering man asked to be allowed to visit his
brothers to warn them not to make his mistakes. My preacher Dad chimed in,
Abraham said to the man, 'If they won't listen to Moses and the prophets,
they won't listen even if someone rises from the dead.'
Yes, some folks are just plain stuck on stupid.
After years of trying to enlighten blacks, I no longer accept interview
requests from black shows that only seek to prove to their audience that I'm
an Uncle Tom or highly paid Republican operative (I wish). I have embraced
God's instruction to the early disciples who were spreading the Gospel of
Christ. “If anyone will not welcome you or listen to your words, leave that
home or town and shake the dust off your feet.” (Matthew 10:14)
At the end of our phone conversation, Dad said, “Thanks for helping me see
the light.” I love that old guy.
