美国人已享受了一个黄金时代。在上世纪90代后期和21世纪的开端，尽管有过9.11和网
络泡沫的愁云惨雾，但是就整个时期看，美国的每一项经济指标还是健康发展，应当上
升的都一直在上升：就业、收入增长、股市的盈利能力等等，都在走高；而应该下跌的
都一直在下跌：通货膨胀、利率和失业率。通货膨胀受到了控制，而全球的生产能力的
发挥、外国竞争、技术创新和美元升值（导致进口较便宜），他们合在一起，起了抑制
美国通涨的作用。所以，美国获得了更高的生产力、更多的就业机会和更高的薪水而又
几乎没有通货膨胀。

HMMM… THOSE CHARTS LOOK – CHERRYPICKED

A meme going around which attempts to illustrate Barrack Obamas Failure
displays various charts that are from the Federal Reserve Banks branch of
Economic Research (FRED the charts are from FRED). The charts claim to
display Student Loans, Food Stamps, Federal Debt, Money Printing, Health
Insurance Costs, Labor Force Participation, the American Workers Share of
the Economy, the Median Family Income and Home Ownership. For the most part
they do display those things – however they display only the period of time
that Barrack Obama was president which any statistician would tell you is
deceptive to say the least.
When looking at statistical data you have to look at it over a long period
of time first in order to see whether or not what you are perceiving is a
part of a long term or short term trend. Most people do not do that. It
doesn’t matter what happened last year compared to this year. Something
that happened 20 years ago could still be resulting in a greater trend that
is prevalent today. For instance if every year since 1960 an extra 1,000
people died a year and grew at that rate every year since 1969 and in 2008
Barrack Obama was elected and the same thing happened from 2008 – 2016…
You wouldn’t blame BARRACK OBAMA – would you? Well if you’re conservative
you probably would.

This one just made me laugh. Also this is the most important chart because
it pretty much shows the underlying cause of all of the other charts in one
way or another. Yes folks. Home Ownership rates have gone down under Barrack
Obama. Probably because we just had a recession that was caused by a
housing bubble where the banks were handing out loans to EVERYONE AND ANYONE
. So yeah… Home ownership is down – that’s a given. Do I have to explain
why this is not Obama’s fault?
Median Family Income

Yep. There was a dip in median family income – and it stabilized – right
after the recession ended. Also – note that it returned to pretty decent
levels. This chart was cherry picked. It did not plummet to the floor. It
went down because we went into a massive recession and it has began to
stabilize. Do I need to get back into that?

Yep. The amount of people on food stamps surged……. IN THE MIDDLE OF A
RECESSION. Do I need to go back to that – anyone seeing a pattern here? But
look, it stabilized and it has began decreasing.

This is why cherry picking data from short periods of time and dismissing
the greater trend is dangerous. The chart that was displayed on the MEME was
literally displaying what happened to health insurance costs during a
period of months during a single year. That is outrageously deceiving. Yes.
The price of health insurance has continued to rise – at the exact same
rate that it has risen for the past 30 years. We elected Barrack Obama to
help this to fix it. Things don’t happen over night people. This would have
happened either way – maybe it would have increased a little more maybe it
would have increased a little less but over a 30 year timeline 2008-2038 it
would have increased over all not decreased.

Yep. That’s a thing. Every year the Average American People have less and
less share of the economy next to large banks and corporations. That has
been a trend ever since 1970’s that the CONSERVATIVES like to say was a
result of manufacturing beginning to go over seas – of course right now its
because of Barrack HUSSEIN Obama.
Labor Force Participation

So – from 1946 to 1964 you have a generation called the baby boomers I’m
sure you remember the term from Middle School. It started right after World
War II – in 1946 3.4 million babies were born than in 1945. That trend
would continue until 1964. Basically this was an entire generation of
Americans who reproduced like rabbits. Between 1964 and 1970 their massive
number of children would begin to acquire jobs and contribute to the work
force and Labor Work Force Participation Rate. Fast-forward about 40 years
to now and you have a large influx of people retiring contributing to the
strange phenomenon of the Labor Work Force Participation Rate plummeting yet
even though more and more Americans are employed today than were in 2008.
In Conclusion
So the only ones which are not part of a greater trend are the Labor Force
Participation Rate, the Federal Debt, and the printing of money. Yet all
three of those are arguably direct results of the great recession. |
