Careful here. While it’s true that the New York Times is doing this
entirely because they believe it will help the Clintons, the newspaper has a
constitutional right to publish information, regardless of its source. I’m
certain that no one here would want to deny Drudge, Breitbart or the
Federalist the same constitutional rights or criticize them for exercising
those rights.
The real issue here is, and should be, the fact that these tax documents
were purposely leaked by a federal agency in violation of US law. This is
not just an illegal act, it is another example of the fact that government
has become politicized and that it has broken its basic commitment to work
for the common good, not the good of one or the other political parties.
That is the real story here.
