D.C., and to implement extreme vetting of refugees as he spoke to a large
crowd in Des Moines, Iowa, on Thursday night.
Trump spoke in Iowa as part of his unofficial “thank you” tour.

Earlier in the day, Trump visited the Ohio State University campus and met
with the victims and first responders involved in a Nov. 28 slashing attack
by a Somali student.

“This horrific assault is yet one more tragic reminder that immigration
security is now national security,” said Trump. “No more games … A Trump
administration will always put the safety and security of the American
people first.”
Trump said it wasn’t just about immigration and national defense, though.
He highlighted his recent pick of Gov. Terry Branstad, Iowa’s Republican
chief executive, to be his ambassador to China.
