The Daily Beast fell victim to a fake news report that two white
supremacists had carried out the Sunday terror attack at a Quebec City
mosque that left six people dead and eight wounded.
The online publication falsely reported that two fictitious men, whose names
were puns on the names of two actual conservative internet commentators,
were identified as the shooters. The Daily Beast's source appeared to be a
fake Twitter account posing as the international news agency Reuters. |
