Trump’s much-discussed wall along the U.S.-Mexico border will be “done
within the next two years.”
In an interview set to air Thursday evening, Kelly told Fox News that the
wall will likely be built in stages — “the wall will be built where it's
needed first, and then it will be filled in,” he said — and argued that
officials “have the authority to built it,” even though how it will be
funded remains unclear.
Trump continues to claim that Mexico will pay for the border wall, but
Mexico has made clear that it has no intention of doing so. House Speaker
Paul Ryan has indicated that Congress will support building a wall because
it was one of Trump’s signature promises on the campaign trail, when he
took a hard line on immigration, but it is estimated to cost as much as $14
billion, and critics argue that it is both unnecessary and too expensive. |
