Cruise missiles are vastly cheaper than naval vessels. Taiwan and Japan can
build similar systems and defeat any proposed naval assault by China. What
we are really witnessing is the end of naval warfare between major powers,
which has always been the United States' preeminent capability.
And with the advent of hypersonic weapons, MAD is back. Interestingly, these
are being deployed by both Russia and China, and the US doesn't have the
technology to deploy them ourselves as of yet.
Slaughtering people in foreign lands was fun while it lasted. Time to bring
the boys home and focus on ourselves for a bit. | h***e
